Why there is a fence
A pit bull, a canal, and my mother-in-law in the water. The front of Phanu Garden, and the reason it looks the way it does.
I’m in Bangkok, at the house Yeepun and I lived in from 2009 until about 2016. Mee lives here now with thirteen cats, all of them rescues from the village. I filmed a walk around the front with the phone, and the first thing anyone notices is the fence.
The fence wasn’t here when I moved in, and neither were the cats. They came one at a time, the homeless cats of the village, and at first they came and went as they pleased. Then a pit bull from the corner house got out and chased one of ours into the canal in front of the house. My mother-in-law was visiting, and she went into the water after her and pulled her out. That is when we built the fence. It is about fifteen years old now and looks it, but it does the job.
The clip is a minute and a quarter, unscripted, with the canal and the corner house in it.
