Gift's Family
A stray mother cat, a kitten stuck inside a wall in a rainstorm, and a neighbor with small hands. All five are still together.

From the top floor of her home, Yeepun’s mother saw a mother cat carrying a kitten in her mouth, moving her litter to a cardboard box on the roof.
Then Mom heard a kitten crying. While carrying the kittens over a wall, the mother had dropped one into a narrow gap at the top. Mom looked for where the sound was coming from and couldn’t see the kitten. She realized it was inside the wall. It was raining heavily and water was pouring into the gap. She thought the kitten would drown.
Mom couldn’t fit her hand through the gap. She called a neighbor, who had small hands and was able to reach in and pull the kitten out. It was soaking wet and weak after hours in the wall.
The kitten was tiny. Mom dried it off and brought it back to the mother. The mother looked after it but didn’t trust Mom yet. Mom came back every day with fresh fish, chicken and cat food, and earned her trust. She named the mother Gift.
Soon Mom could pet Gift and handle the kittens. The one that almost died in the wall was named Aunaun. The two orange males were named Somsa and Bailey. The other female was Nuu Jean.
Later Mom moved to Bangkok and brought Gift’s family with her. Now they live in Chiang Rai, on her sister’s property, in a kennel with other cats.
All five are friendly and affectionate. They get along with each other and with every cat they’ve ever had to share space with. They are all happy and healthy.
